MUNCHIES / Golden Rain Productions - 1987

Well, I guess that one good Corman production deserves a crappy one! Roger is producer on this small puppet monster flick that were so popular in the eighties, like GREMLINS, CRITTERS, GHOULIES, HOBGOBLINS, BEASTIES, TROLL and more!! This story goes like this... A space archaeologist (huh?!) discovers a "Munchies" in a cave in Peru! His evil twin brother and snack food entrepreneur kidnaps the creature, but, when chopped up, they regenerate into many new creatures, and, they are freakin' mean little ass holes!

This thing stars the great Harvey (THE CAROL BURNETT SHOW) Korman in a dual role of good and evil brothers. The rest of the cast are pretty much second string actors...

Bad Harvey and his partner in crime go to their snack food factory to deliver the Munchie he took from his brother. His helper's having some trouble figuring out what the Hell's going on!

So, worker dude has to deal with the little monster after breaking out of its jail... Must be time to chop up this stinkin' little piece of garbage!!

The pieces come to life and they end up with the rifle, you figure how that could have happened. You can tell, they have a twisted sense o' humor!

They love going through your shit, and, if you don't like it...

Thankfully, there are some hot chicks for us and the Munchies to drool over!

Oh look, how cute!!.. The little guy gots the Munchies!

Here's another classic shot from the eighties, a cute girl bent over exposing herself for all the kiddies (and Munchies) out there in Filmland...

We'll end the fun with this great shot of a Munchie out of control in a car, watch the Hell out!! So then, the only question is, what in the Hell will Eegah!! have for us tomorrow?

THE INTRUDER - William Shatner - "I Hate Your Guts" (1962)

Well, I don't call it a Wild or Weird Wednesday for no reason at all, because the reason is movies like tonight's feature! It's called "The Intruder," a title that has been used more than once in the movies!
The alternate title is the charming "I Hate Your Guts!"

"The Intruder" is a statement about racism in the 1960's!

It was made in 1962 and features William (Captain Kirk) Shatner in the lead role as Adam Cramer, a bigoted rabble-rousing outsider racist hate merchant!

"The Intruder" is totally the work of Roger Corman with the help of his brother Gene! Roger Corman is one of the biggest Dungeon heroes for obvious reasons, and he didn't have to make a movie like this, he must have just wanted to!

If being a bigot isn't bad enough, Adam Cramer also likes underage girls!

These kids just want to go to school! (I find it pretty shocking that I can not find any credits for any of the black actors! Maybe things haven't changed as much as we would like to think!)

This shot and this scene just scream "Mein Kampf!"

This body language reminds me of a prominent politician today!

This reminds me of a Dictator 70 years ago!

These people just really want to be left alone!

To further his character as a scumbag, Adam Cramer puts the make on his neighbor's wife while her husband is out of town! Everybody loves The Shat, and rightfully so, but man, that dude had a way of being vile and diabolically disdainful when the role called for it!

Quite the juxtaposition between the 'Cut Rate' sign and the burning cross!

Adam Cramer finally gets thrown in jail for inciting a riot, but is soon released without charge because of all the local townspeople and their support!

Leo (Attack Of The Giant Leeches) Gordon is Sam Griffin, the guy's wife that Adam Cramer just screwed! Sam's the real hero of the movie! Leo had 194 acting credits from 1952 to 1994! You might have seen him once or twice!

Sam temporarily turns Adam into the little girl that he really is!

Frank Maxwell is another one of those guys who made a career out of being a Sheriff, a Detective, a Colonel, a Sergeant, a Doctor, a General, or a Chief! He was in the "Twilight Zone" episode "A World Of Difference" and in the "Outer Limits" episode "The Man With The Power!"

Frank was the town journalist! He walked the black kids to school so the white folks stomped the crap out of him, and totally destroyed one of his eyes, and the bad part is that it was all done it broad daylight in the middle of town by his neighbors!

"The Intruder" is set in a fictional town in Texas, but was actually shot in the towns of Charleston, East Prairie, and Sikeston Missouri! The film crew had to pack up and get out when the locals didn't like what the movie was about, when they found out the truth!

Racist mobs aren't really much more than zombies! This looks like it could have been a scene right out of "The Walking Dead!"

Not soon enough, Adam Cramer eventually gets his just rewards and eats it! He would later go into rehab, and eventually become the Captain of the Starship Enterprise!

"The Intruder" is a disgusting, disturbing, and difficult movie to watch! The language will grate on your nerves after a while, and the racist protest signs are foul to look at, but Roger Corman was brave to make it, and it should be seen by everyone at least once, and that's easy enough to do, because you can watch or download it for free from the Internet Archive right about HERE!!

The HORROR And SCI-FI MOVIES Of ARTHUR C. PIERCE As WRITER

As promised, here's more info on Mr. Arthur C. Pierce, this time we focus on writing credits for his horror and sci-fi movies from 1959-78...

We start with THE COSMIC MAN from 1959, a story about a spherical UFO that proves to contain an alien visitor. Arthur gets credit for the original story and the screenplay. Wow, that's one of the best title cards... Ever!!

Then, he also gets the story and screenplay credits for Jerry Warren's INVASION OF THE ANIMAL PEOPLE in 1959. In this story, Aliens release a big critter in the wilds of Lapland where it takes a woman captive and threatens a group of scientists.

Arthur also gets credit for original story and screenplay for BEYOND THE TIME BARRIER from 1960, starring Robert Clarke. In this one, a military test pilot is caught in a time warp that propels him to year 2024 where he finds a plague has sterilized the world's population!

In THE HUMAN DUPLICATORS from 1965 with George Nader and Richard Kiel, Arthur scores the writing credit for a story about an alien that's dispatched from a faraway galaxy to take over the Earth by "duplicating" humans and creating a race of zombies!

MUTINY IN OUTER SPACE from 1965 will always be one of my favorite movies to watch again! Arthur also gets more original story and screenplay credits here. In this one, a creeping fungus is brought to a space station by astronauts on their trip back from the Moon.

Then we have WOMEN OF THE PREHISTORIC PLANET from 1966 with John Agar, he gets the writing credit. The story's about a spaceship that crashes on an unexplored planet, and, the rescuers sent to search for survivors discover that decades have passed due to a time dilation!

Also from 1966, Arthur gets the writing credit for DESTINATION INNER SPACE, the story's about a group of scientists working in a deep-sea research station, they discover a strange craft of extraterrestrial origin with a monster inside.

Again in 1966, Arthur gets an 'uncredited' writing credit for THE NAVY vs. THE NIGHT MONSTERS. In the story, Operation Deep Freeze, a scientific expedition to Antarctica, discover some unusual tree specimens. When the specimens are shipped out for further study, the trees are accidentally introduced to a south seas Navy base, soon revealing killer, acid-secreting monsters that live by night!! Another killer title card!

Damn, again in 1966, Arthur gets the writing credit for DIMENSION 5, a story about an American intelligence agent who's aided by a Chinese-American female agent, he uses a time-travel belt to thwart Chinese operatives who are attempting to import the materials to make an atomic bomb to LA.

Holy crap, he's back in 1966 to pen CYBORG 2087 starring Michael Rennie! Man, 1966 was a magic year for our busy Mr. Pierce!! In this one, Earth's civilization in the future sends a cyborg back to the 1960's to change the future. Bottom still shows the world Cyborg 2087 came from.

In 1968, Arthur gets another writing credit for THE DESTRUCTORS. This story has foreign agents who are after a substance called Laser Rubies that can power a killer laser beam. Government agents are dispatched to eliminate the foreign opponents.

Last on our list is THE ASTRAL FACTOR from 1978 starring Robert Foxworth, Stefanie Powers and Sue Lyon. A convicted strangler, studying the paranormal in his jail cell, learns to make himself invisible. He escapes from prison to stalk and strangle the five women who testified against him at his trial...

Wow, what a great pile of work, thank you Mr. Pierce!! So, looks like we're back Wednesday with even more wild 'n' weird Dungeon Cargo, be there or be from Squaresville...
